Hi everyone! Today is one month before Bowen and I set forth on the Appalachian Trail for our thru-hike. In order to prepare for the trail, Bowen and I moved back in with my dad and we have been making maple syrup since January. Our Maple Festival is fast approaching and will take place this weekend and the next in Monterey, VA. So far we have made around 1,000 gallons of maple syrup.

Bo and I have been getting some miles in with our packs fully loaded and I have been spending time packing and unpacking my pack, swapping out gear, and planning out loose stops and resupply points along the trail. Meanwhile…Bowen has been eating deer legs and scapulas that he has found from carcasses on the hill…and chasing every deer that he lays his eyes on. I’m not sure he realizes the big hike that is in store for him come April 5th.
